Design Engineer

Location: Nelson, Head Office

We have a number of vacancies for Design Engineers to join our Design department. We are looking for people capable of working with either Fire Alarm, Security Systems or Public Address and Voice Alarm but not necessarily all. The successful candidate will undertake the design of new installations including the use of Protec and other third party equipment. Assisting Sales Engineers you will produce and prepare tenders for new systems and well as additions to existing systems. 

You will have experience of working with Fire Alarm, Security Systems or PAVA in accordance with relevant British Standards and be able to demonstrate a very good eye for detail. The ability to work and liaise with staff at all levels will also be important. We require an electrical based qualification such as City and Guilds or an ONC, HNC or similar. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products along with a knowledge of Bluebeam software would also be advantageous.  

This is a full time, permanent position, working 40 hours per week. Salary is dependent on previous experience.

Custodial Administrator

Location: Nelson, Head Office

We have vacancy for a Administrator to join our Custodial department. The successful candidate shall assist with all kinds of administrative duties within the department including monitoring of a central e-mail account, responding to client requests, generating quotations, processing orders and other associated duties.

You shall join a team working on large sized, national installation contracts. You will be organised with great time management abilities as well as being comfortable working with staff at varying levels within the organisation. Competence with the Microsoft Office is essential and you will both create and manage exisiting documents such as spreadsheets and letters. Familiarty with basic administrative functions such as telephone work, filing and photocopying will be advantageous.

Technical Author

We have the opportunity for a Technical Author to join our Product Strategy department. The successful candidate shall work to articulate technical information in an engaging and instructive manner through standardised formats to create manuals, technical diagrams, and other forms of product media. Your work is a form of communication between Protec and its engineers, clients and users around the world. Trainee Ansul & Fire Extinguisher Engineer

Location: London

Due to continued growth, Protec Fire Detection has an opportunity for a Trainee Fire Extinguisher and Ansul Engineer in the London area.

You will be trained in order to carry out regular servicing, reactive maintenance and commissioning of our clients R102 Ansul Systems and Portable Fire Extinguishers. Ensuring up to date knowledge of and compliance with, all relevant Standards.

You will be provided with the necessary training to enable that you receive the relevant certification for working with Ansul and Portable Fire Extinguishers.

You must be smart in appearance, pleasant in attitude and capable of communicating diplomatically to strengthen customer relationships. Some engineering experience would be advantageous but not essential.

Qualification Engineer

Location: Nelson, Head Office

We currently have a vacancy for a Qualification Engineer. Working within our Production Department you will be required to assist with electronic testing newly developed and exisiting products. This will also include the testing of software as well as hardware, the results then being clearly communicated to relevant teams and managers. The successful candidate will develop test harness software using languages such as Python as well as building and maintaining relevant test racks. 

A working knowledge of fire alarms and associated systems is essential with specific experience of Protec products being a distinct advantage. The successful candidate must be capable of reading circuit diagrams as well as having a good knowledge of electronic testing. Along with these technical skills we require someone who is capable of communicating clearly both verbally and in writing making technical information easily understood.
