Security Design Engineer
To survey, design and develop compliant, practical and commercially effective electronic security solutions for new installations, system upgrades and extensions to existing systems. The role supports Sales Engineers and wider project teams by preparing accurate quotations, tender submissions, design packages and technical information for CCTV/VSS, intruder detection, access control, intercom and associated integrated security systems. The Security Design Engineer retains responsibility for the design from receipt of the initial enquiry through quotation, technical clarification and order placement, while remaining available to provide design assurance and technical support throughout delivery, commissioning and handover.

Typical Responsibilities
- Interpret client briefs, specifications, drawings and operational requirements to establish the technical and commercial scope.
- Undertake site surveys and identify constraints, interfaces, risks, assumptions, exclusions and outstanding information.
- Design compliant CCTV/VSS, intruder detection, access control, intercom and integrated security solutions in accordance with applicable standards, NSI requirements, manufacturer guidance and client specifications.
- Produce coordinated layouts, schematics, system architectures, equipment schedules, design calculations and supporting technical documentation.
- Prepare accurate, clearly qualified quotations and tender submissions aligned with the agreed scope and commercial strategy.
- Select suitable equipment and configurations, considering performance, resilience, compatibility, maintainability and lifecycle requirements.
- Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical, IT/network and other M&E services.
- Check drawings, schedules, quotations and technical submissions before issue, adhering to internal document control procedures.
- Liaise with Sales, Projects, commissioning teams, consultants, suppliers and clients, providing timely technical clarification throughout delivery and handover.
- Maintain current knowledge of standards, technologies and manufacturer developments, and contribute to standardisation, lessons learned and continuous improvement.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably commensurate with the role.
