Women In Engineering 2023

June 23rd celebrates women in engineering around the world. We are lucky to have a significant number of female colleagues with us working in the engineering industry. Since we are actively pushing to recruit more women into our industry, we thought it would be great to catch up with some of our new colleagues who have started with us in the last 12 months.

Women in Engineering Protec 2023

Women in Engineering Camerfield

Name: Natasha Williams

Job Role: Sales Executive

What role did you have before joining the team?

Data Quality within the major gas network for Wales and West England

What was the biggest selling point for coming to join Protec?

Long-serving employees – Everyone that recommended Protec to me would always mention how Protec was a job for life. Moving from Wales to Lancashire, I wanted a role that would allow me to settle in and have a great support network of friends/colleagues. Along with this, my role involves a lot of travelling and meeting external clients, I am a people person, so this was the USP. Having a female Manager was also an added extra to the role; Alex Swatman has been so supportive and educating.

What’s been your highlights so far with us?

I am only a few months into my role, but I’ve loved how my managers and directors push me to expand my knowledge. I have attended many training courses and conferences that have allowed me to grasp the industry and meet like-minded people.

What things are you looking forward to here?

Developing my knowledge and having a long, successful career. I am also excited to see the business expand with the acquisition of Bosch.

I was a Product executive for a Tour Operator. I was looking after the Caribbean and Mexico.

What was the biggest selling point for coming to join Protec?

It is a reputable company in the local area which offers job security.

What’s been your highlights so far with us?

Working with a great team who have made me feel very welcome.

What things are you looking forward to here?

I have been working with the Technical Director to help create new procedures across the business. It has been a very long process but very worthwhile. I am looking forward to seeing this be put into practice with our test pilot project over the next couple of months and seeing how the process helps refine what we do. Plus, ensuring we learn from the pilot project to enhance the process further.

Women in Engineering Protec Camerfield

Name: Ros Ashton

Job Role: Junior Sales Executive

What role did you have before joining the team?

Sales & Marketing Manager at North Valley Composites

What was the biggest selling point for coming to join Protec?

There were so many things that attracted me to Protec in the first place…Job retention, local reputation, growth opportunities, but I have to say that the Bosch acquisition really increased the level of appeal. After application, the process is handled in a very reassuring and professional manner. I was very impressed with the dynamic leadership within the sales & new business team at Camerfield, and I knew I would be able to build a career here.

What’s been your highlights so far with us?

Last month we attended the All Energy exhibition in Glasgow. The show had people from across all industries and was a fantastic opportunity to create new connections, as well as meet some of our Bosch partners, with whom we hope to work with in future. From within the office, I’ve particularly enjoyed all the training sessions I have had with my peers, who have willingly shared a combination of decades of knowledge with me. I came to Protec from a completely different industry and have loved everyone’s attitude that no question is stupid!

What things are you looking forward to here?

I’ve only been with Protec for two months to date, so I’m looking forward to continuing to expand my knowledge of our huge range of products and services. One of the ways I’m going to be doing this is through site visits, and I have a visit to Drax Power Station coming up shortly. I’m a bit of a nerd when learning, so experiencing all our systems in action on such a huge scale will be amazing.

So, there we have it. A brief roundup of what it’s like joining Protec and what our new colleagues think of their new careers with us. As you can see, we take associates from all industries, as we feel many skills from one sector can be applied to ours. In addition to bringing those skills, it also brings fresh new ideas to the business, so we encourage anyone thinking of a new challenge then why not head over to our careers page and see what role best fits you.
