Buyer – Direct Purchasing
Based in our manufacturing facility the buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, supplies, and equipment required for the manufacturing process. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, negotiating prices, and managing inventory to meet production demands. The Manufacturing Buyer works closely with the production team, quality control, and logistics to ensure a seamless flow of materials and the efficiency of manufacturing operations.

Typical Responsibilties
- Identify and source suppliers for raw materials, components, and equipment required for manufacturing.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure best deals.
- Place orders and manage the purchasing process, ensuring the timely arrival of materials to meet production needs.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply for production without overstocking.
- Track material usage, order quantities, and lead times to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Maintain accurate records within the ERP system.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality products and services.
- Help to resolve any issues related to delayed deliveries, damaged goods, or quality concerns with suppliers.
- Continuously evaluate and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Review purchase orders to ensure they are in line with budget constraints.
- Work with the finance department to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Seek cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
- Work closely with production managers, engineers, planners and R&D to understand material requirements and lead times.
- Ensure that the materials purchased meet production specifications and are delivered on time.
- Assist in resolving any production delays caused by material shortages or quality issues.
- Ensure that all purchased materials comply with company quality standards and industry regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders and supplier performance.
- Generate regular reports on purchasing activities, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and material status.
